tamlins-profile400They are unquestionably one of the finest harmonizing groups to emerge from Jamaica; they are one of the most in-demand acts internationally and they have backed some of Jamaica’s most renowned singers. They are the Tamlins – Carlton Smith, Derrick Lara and Junior Moore

The Tamlins are so busy touring that their appearances are rare, but come Saturday, May 26, they will be on stage at he Mas Camp Village for the big Heineken Startime 2001 season opener which also features Toots Hibbert, half Pint, Susan Cadogan, Boris Gardiner, Dennis Walks and Lloyd parks and We The People.

It’s tough lineup, but The Tamlins will be more than able to hold their own, when one considers the string of hits this silky-smooth trio will unleash on the fans. Versatility, Quality and Style are hallmarks and since their debut as a night – club act in 1970 they have not looked back.

They have toured as back-up singers for Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh, Rita Marley, John Holt and Beres Hammond and have won several awards both locally and overseas.

Music knowledgeables still remembers their 1987 performance at the Oceana Hotel when they almost upstaged American singer Freddie Jackson who was at the top of his popularity internationally.

Another highpoint of their career in 1987 was when they wrote and performed several songs for an episode of the popular Miami Vice series titled “Soul On Ice,” a first for any Jamaican artiste.

With several successful albums and singles to their credit, The Tamlins recently released their latest album “No Surrender” under BP Records’ distributorship and to good reviews.

They have come a long way and to be still at the top of their game after three decades underlines the brilliance of these brothers. Come May 26 they are getting ready to thrill the fans ad enhance their reputation as a class act.
